Edinson Jiménez
I am a Colombian photographer based in Budapest, who also happens to be a fiction writer and a cinema enthusiast with an obsession for visual storytelling. This obsession was born out of my habit of reading between the lines of what I can see and that spreads beyond the limits of what I can imagine; constantly searching for the meaning behind the obvious and with an urge to share my findings, my vision.
Not long ago I found in photography this welcoming middle ground of visual satisfaction and narrative. I have submitted myself to the spontaneity and unscripted nature of day to day life and allowed myself to be amazed when the most conventional routines burst with lush and tantalizing metaphors.
They say most pictures are worth a thousand words, some say the good ones tell a thousand stories, but what about the special ones? I say those are the ones that ask a thousand questions. This is my philosophy. I have reverse-engineered my approach to art, and instead of outlining how my images should look like, I let them talk to me, ask me the questions that must be answered and give myself permission to let go of those distractions that stand in the way between what's there and what I see.
